My work focuses on lack of lipid synthesis in parasitic wasps to study trait regression and reversion. Parasitoids are rapidly becoming model systems to study parallel evolution, because large inter and intra-specific differences exist in the rate with which evolutionary changes have taken place in their lipid metabolism. Studying the loss and re-acquisition of lipid synthesis in parasitoids will increase our understanding of trait dynamics within an ecological framework and will lead to important insights into the conditions and processes that fuel rapid evolutionary change.
